Mosqui Trap
The Mosqui Trap was developed at the University of Minas Gerais at Belo Horizonte in Brazil. It was designed to catch ovipositing Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus females. It uses the Atraedes lure plus water as an attractant but the females entering the trap do not make contact with the water since it is covered with a mesh. Once inside the trap the mosquitoes are caught on a sticky board (130 x 303 x 0.33 mm) that lines the inside of the upper half of the trap. The glue used on the board is not wet to the touch and is therefore easily manipulated and mosquitoes once caught on it are easily removed with a little solvent. The glue is covered with a siliconised paper sheet and is easily removed before the board is placed inside the trap.
AgriSense supplies the trap, the sticky boards and the Atraedes attractant lure as a complete kit or as individual components
